protest against the massacre of dogs in Romania, war dogs in the middle of Europe.

Dear Mr. Schulz,

We turn in the names of many animal rights activists and deeply horrified citizens to you.
We hereby urge you to take action against the brutal mass killing of thousands of innocent stray animals in Romania immediately. We do not tolerate that the EU and as your President, continue to stand idly by in an unprecedented bloodbath in Europe! There is inconsistent, that you one hand on behalf of the EU, the “Nobel Peace Prize 2012 “received and then on the other hand a war against dogs and cats in Europe are let. animals a solid and worthy of protection component our society and should not be excluded from life, nor from the law or ethical-moral values in Europe.

The situation in Romania has dramatically intensified a week ago as a young boy allegedly said to have been killed by stray dogs. The media played the event incredibly high, and sparked a targeted mass hysteria of the population, which began immediately all stray dogs in a brutal way to kill, to shoot or to light alive. A few days later, the government used this staged on 10.09.2013 mood to a euthanasia law that the killing of all stray animals in Romania provides to decide. Since an incredible slaughter of the animals takes place in Bucharest alone threatens 65 000 dogs, the cruel death. Animal welfare organizations have had to close their offices, animal rights activists fear for their lives. Due to many inconsistencies in the case, has now confirmed that the little boy was NOT killed by street dogs, but probably should have been the victim of a pedophile crime. , it gives the impression that this is a long-cherished plan staged perfidious from the Romanian government implemented was. The Romanian government of President Traian Basescu tried for years the “euthanasia law PL912” against the resistance of the animal rights activists assert. Between 2004 and 2009, an incredible 10 million street dogs were killed in Romania! In a figurative sense, this is a “genocide” in dogs as it has never existed before. There were almost as many dogs killed as the entire population of Romania! The brutality with which animals are killed is unprecedented. The dogs were hanged, living doused with acid, they were living with the Flex sawed off the paws, etc.

By now enforced euthanasia law of this cowardly murders will continue.
Romania shows that, once again, that it is not a civilized country and not having moral maturity to be a member of the EU. The problem of street dogs resulted solely from the irresponsibility of the people who threw these animals on the road they are not neutered and did not care about them. Instead of taking responsibility for the animals and humane and civilized way to decimate the population of the animals by castration and consistent to adopt, there is the Romanian government only cold-blooded murder as a supposed solution. Numerous studies show that killing does not lead to the decimation of the population. There are many NGOs and Romanian animal rights activists who have made and shown outstanding work in recent years, how to by neuter & release measures, and care can effectively and humanely manage the problem of street dogs. fact that Romania against the Constitutional Court represents, and to date, the implementation of appropriate and ethical measures of population control (WHO) has refused, a perfidious background. In Romania, a lucrative business model has evolved to earn the dog hunter, municipalities and mayors million euros with the murder of stray animals.

Up to € 250 per dog paid by municipalities to animal shelters for accommodation. Funds are part of EU funds and in any case tax dollars and mean certain death for the dogs . Man looking at tendering the cheapest shelter, where the animals are after arrival often equal murdered or die of starvation – causes zero cost – brings 100% profit.
more aggressive and dangerous dogs in the media can be shown, the more one has the legitimacy to . assassinate a lucrative business, also funded by EU.

We therefore urge you to review the payment and appropriate use of EU funds in Romania and to end this possible misuse of EU funds.  it can not be that every tax-paying EU citizens is made involuntarily to the dog killer, because with these funds will subsidize the killing of dogs!

It’s bad that it could come in Romania so far, especially against the background that we animal rights activists, both you, Mr Schulz, including all MEP `s in the last few years constantly on the murder of millions of stray animals and the use of EU agents have noted, interspersed with information, pictures and facts into knowledge. Countless petitions Written Declarations and protests were addressed to the European Parliament, many delegations from animal rights activists traveled to Brussels for talks. All that remained without significant changes and achievements.
We do not take longer accept that you and the EU Parliament will continue to stand idly such a inhumane and criminal goings-on in Romania and can thus be exploited for the local system.

For discussions and assistance in the management of street dogs we like are available.

Sincerely yours

Princess Maja von Hohenzollern (animal rights activist)

New update on Barchiel! Formerly known as “dog living on a mattress”

15 Mar

$(KGrHqNHJEwE-uwKHetMBPt!oF(t(Q~~60_35

Remember the posting about the pup living on a mattress? It has been a few weeks since I first saw Barchiel on an empty lot in Pharr Texas. My friend Joyce Fields, was there to help me out getting the word out on Barchiel. She had the time and patience for me to explain her all that had happened in one single day and explained to her my intentions to have the dog rescued. If you did not read the first article by Joy you can read it by clicking here: Stray dog living on a mattress needs help.

Since then, many things happened once he was picked up by animal control. My friend Joy Benson has been with me from the start and she did not give up on Barchiel till he was picked up. The Animal Control of the City of Pharr Texas were helpful in telling us that he had been picked up and sent to Palm Valley Animal Center. The bad news that we did not know was that the animal shelter has a policy on not placing any pit mixes available for adoption. Being so close to the border with Mexico there is always the chance of the dogs ending up in dog fighting rings. Joyce Fields wrote another article asking for people to help him out.If you missed it you can read it by clicking here: Update on stray dog living on a mattress

Joy and I called to the animal shelter in order to talk to them. I have to thank to all the kind people that picked up our calls. Thank you for your kindness and listening to us. At the end of the 3 days of hold…we received news that Barchiel would not be put to sleep. He would be placed on hold till he found a rescue to take him in. He got his first vaccines and he got tested for Heartworm…unfortunately he did test positive for heartworm.

The shelter asked that in order for Barchiel to be placed in a rescue it has to be a registered rescue. There is limited transport…He has a ride to San Antonio, Houston or Austin at the moment. The treatment for his heartworm and he still needs to be fixed. Joy Benson, Joyce Fields and I decided to start online fundraising. So far we are close to $500! Thanks to great people that have donated and want to help Barchiel. What he needs now is to find a rescue that will be willing to give him a chance and give him a vacant place in rescue. He is a good boy, very timid, but he does not respond aggressively when people show him affection or touch him while he eats. He is getting socialized at Palm Valley Animal Shelter.

This are some of his details:

age: two yeas of age
sex:male
color: tan / white
The following is the description given by the animal shelter:

He is just about 2yrs old, HW+, and weighs 62lbs. He is now tested and vaccinated. He is a little timid but not aggressive.

He takes food just fine in a bowl and shows no food aggression when adding more to his bowl, or taking away. He loves to be loved on.

He likes neck rubs and is staying close on his little rug. If you can help pull him to a rescue organization (501c3) OUTSIDE OF THE RGV

If you can help this sweetheart that has no fault for being abandoned and left to fend for himself, please contact us! We are here to help!

All rescues that send a message will be vetted by us in order to find Barchiel an appropriate home.

We have named him Barchiel…it means angel of compassion. We have all being guided by compassion to help out this little guy

If you read this posting…I pray you can help him out. Please share his story.

There is always room for one..I see by his coat he must be a stray,
The untidy look gives him away.
He’s lost his will and is so thin,
Hasn’t eaten since God knows when.
I know as I coax him through the door,
There’s always room for one more.
The other night in the freezing rain,
That little female came again.
Matted and soaked, crying in need,
Lost and alone with babies to feed.
Her pleading eyes I couldn’t ignore,
There’s always room for one more.

There’s a new face on the docks today,
Hungry but clean, to our dismay,
I stroked her head, her body rippled,
When she got up I saw she was crippled.
She started to go, but fell on the floor.
There’s always room for one more.

There’s the poor doggy standing in the rain,
I’ve tried to entice him time and again.
One ear is lopsided, the other’s been torn,
Blind in one eye, lost and forlorn.
He’s coming now, so I’ll open the door.
There’s always room for one more.

Original post: On June 25 2012, we all woke up hearing the news that four puppies and an adult dog, passed away after their shelter was ravaged by Tropical Storm Debby. According to Jacksonville.com the people responsible for the welfare of the dogs and cats state that “[They] had moved the puppies up to the high end of the shelter, thinking they would be safe there.” “We all feel so bad … We never expected the creek would rise this fast and this high and we really felt the ditches would handle it if it came out of the bank.” explained Capt. Carol Starling of the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, who oversees the animal shelter.

The reporter Teresa Stepzinski informs that the  bull dog/hound mix puppies that died were part of a large litter recently brought to the shelter along with their mother. The animals were waiting to be picked up by a rescue group, when they were caught in the flood. The surviving animals, about 60 dogs, cats and kittens immediately were evacuated to safety on higher ground at the county fairgrounds by sheriff’s deputies and animal control personnel.

On the social networking site Facebook for SAVING THE DOGS & CATS OF PUTNAM COUNTY, FLORIDA  a picture of the shelter has been posted and caring people have offered their help the shelter that is in need of all of us right now. They posted the following list of things that would be greatly appreciated if they could be donated.

  • Old Crates & Kennels
  • Zip ties (if you have worked in a rescue mission you know how important and essential zip ties are)
  • Scrub brooms/Brushes

Send your tax deductible contribution to “Supporters of Sheltered Animals, Inc.” 1228 Blanding St. Starke, FL 332091 That is the non-profit rescue group that works directly with this shelter.
Just a few hours ago a new Facebook update was posted by the rescue:
“PLEA from AC in Green Cove Springs to all area RESCUES and ADOPTERS: County residents forced to evacuate by rising floodwaters are dropping off pets BY THE DOZENS at the shelter. The local no-kill shelter DID have to be evacuated, and all their animals had to be relocated to AC too. THE POUND IS SLAMMED and BEGGING for adopters and rescues to pull NOW”
Please consider giving a hand to the animals during this time of need. If you have never volunteered before and you always had the urge to do something for animals…NOW IT IS THE TIME. Rescues are always looking for eager people with a good heart that can truly help out. Be sincere and do what your heart tells you. Do not think that there could be enough people to help, there could never be more than enough people to help animals. If you can donate money, do so. Donate money that goes directly to them and to the animals. Please, it takes a second to share the following post, remember that sharing is caring. We have to care for these animals that need of your compassion and help right now. Please do so.
